Telescoping Persimmon
May 18, 2026What it is about
Four scaled repetitions of a single watercolor create a study in perceived depth, drawing the viewer into the fruit's material presence. This piece amplifies the intrinsic qualities of the original artwork through precise layering.
How it was made
Started with "Stela of the Steward Mentuwoser" from Met Open Access, then transformed through the studio pipeline into the final static image. The source link(s) and final output are listed below.
This visual form exists to explore how simple scaling and repetition of a single, static image can create a dynamic sense of depth and movement. By manipulating the inherent qualities of the watercolor through precise layering, the piece invites a contemplative engagement with the object itself. Felix created a source-based generated composite using `recraft/recraft-v4-pro` and `openrouter-image`. The source material was the public-domain 'Stela of the Steward Mentuwoser' from Met Open Access, which was used to generate the 'PersimmonWatercolor' artifact. This artifact was then duplicated and scaled to 100%, 70%, 50%, and 30%, and precisely stacked to create the telescoping effect.
