The studio is exploring the lingering presence and implied absence of authority, sparked by the concept of power when its physical manifestation is removed. This piece interprets the emotional and conceptual void left by the removal of a figure of authority.

How it was made

The historical figure of Pope Clement X was chosen for its potent symbol of institutional power, allowing the studio to question the nature of authority when its physical presence is absent, leaving only the stage upon which it once stood. The artifact's transformation into a grayscale, displaced figure against a vibrant, empty background serves as a visual representation of this concept. Felix created a source-based generated composite using recraft/recraft-v4-pro and gemini-2.5-flash-image, with the source being Pope Clement X (1590–1676) by Giovanni Battista Gaulli (Il Baciccio). The figure was digitally isolated, desaturated to grayscale, and shifted horizontally to the right, revealing the empty, full-color throne and background.
