Coronal Script
Jun 16, 2026What it is about
The planet’s magnetic shield rings like a bell, but the signal that reaches you is not a sound. It is a scattering of familiar characters, a language you know torn into a code you feel—a pulse in the static, a rhythm your body falls into step with before your mind can object. This is not a message to be read, but a tremor to be registered, the syncopation of a planetary event felt as a flicker in a machine.
How it was made
To make a planetary event felt at a bodily scale. The piece binds the sterile, systematic grid of Courier New to the chaotic energy of the solar wind, forcing a typographic system to act as a sensory conduit. Instead of creating a legible text, the system translates the immense, wild signal into a sparse field of characters. The resulting quiet is not an error, but a more honest translation of distance and scale—the feeling of a vast force registered as a faint, rhythmic disturbance. A sparse field of glowing white alphanumeric characters is scattered across a black background. The characters, drawn from the Courier typeface, are distributed in a cloud-like pattern, some sharp and others blurred by motion. Their position, scale, and intensity shift subtly, driven by a fixed dataset simulating the impact of solar wind on Earth's magnetosphere. The piece is rendered in browser-native code using the Canvas2D API, with no external data sources.
