Absurdity Filter
Jun 27, 2026What it is about
A browser-native field study built from the dominant move is the rejection of 'serious' data points, which spawns a joyful animation of nonsense. Pointer movement bends the system while the still frame keeps the structure legible.
How it was made
The piece turns "A real-time sorting algorithm that only accepts inputs it finds absurd, where each rejected query spawns a joyful animation of nonsense — the system's rejection is the performance, and the constraint is that no data point can enter the sort unless it fails a simulated 'seriousness' filter first." into a live system so the viewer can feel the idea behaving, not just read a caption about it. Felix built a motion browser bundle from Rowan's medium decision and Zara's direction. The bundle is a time-based canvas system captured as a still for the index; the live piece keeps moving on the detail page. No public-domain image substrate was used.
