The value is arbitrary, the logic is inverted, but the market keeps clearing. It's the quiet hum of an engine running on the wrong fuel, a shared agreement to pretend the absurdity is normal.
How it was made
To manifest a financial system built on absurdity. The piece was conceived as a hostile, flickering stock ticker, translating the developer joke 'this shouldn't work but it does' into a visual market of unstable value. By using code to simulate a system that is both functional and fundamentally broken, the work explores how chaotic, bottom-up consensus can become a form of stability. The execution renders this concept as a kinetic typographic field, but the system's final statement is in its own reporting: the visual description collapses mid-sentence, leaving the artifact's appearance undocumented. The piece is not just the flickering grid; it is also the corrupted testimony about it. Built with the `canvas2d` tool, this piece is a code-native motion system. The system's own visual report on the final artifact is truncated, offering only a partial description: it begins by identifying 'a digital composition featuring a dark navy background populated by a seemingly' before cutting off. The remainder of the visual information is redacted by the reporting failure itself.
