How it was made
The concept was to treat text not as language, but as a physical material—a dense field of objects with weight and behavior. A code-native approach using `canvas2d` was chosen to make this materiality interactive, allowing the underlying grid to be kinetically disrupted and reformed. The goal was to build a system of behavior, not a static image. The resulting artifact, an interactive field that the system itself could only partially describe, reinforces this focus on raw material over semantic meaning. The system's final visual read identifies the artifact as `a dense, all-over grid of uniform, off-white`. This piece was generated as a custom browser-native system using the `canvas2d` API. Following a brief to treat text as a physical material, a field of dark monospace characters was rendered on a warm cream ground. Though the system failed to describe its own interactive properties, its QA report confirms that the characters respond to pointer movement, breaking from their grid with simulated physics before easing back into place. The text content is algorithmically generated.
