A coarse,
Aug 6, 2026What it is about
A system built to quantify collective energy must also account for the forces that tear it apart. The resulting structure is not a measure of harmony, but a permanent record of its own rupture.
How it was made
Louis Lozowick's 'Night Repairs' provided the industrial and mechanized language for a system under stress. Its themes of structure and physical labor offered a fitting vocabulary for a piece about a system breaking. The final artifact's visual form is defined by the system's own truncated read: "a composition of contrasting textures and overlaid digital marks. A coarse,". Built entirely in code with a browser-native `canvas2d` renderer, the piece translates the industrial, structural themes of the 1939 print 'Night Repairs' into a generative simulation. The motion is driven by this self-contained system, not an external data feed.
